Product Description: The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really four devices in one box. First, there's the dual-band Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together at up to gigabit speeds. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

The router works great but the initial setup was not that easy. The network magic provides graphical details of devices connected to the router and was helpfull in the setup of 2 wireless TV bridges, Ipod, 2 laptop, and network shared drive. Adding a device is simplified by this software. I upgraded from WRTG router to this router for better Media streaming. However, I cannot detect much difference. There appears to be an improvement; but it still is slow with interruptions.

Dead after 15 months. I always ran this router connected to a UPS. The house has a massive surge protection system at the panel too. Despite those precautions, and with no other event to precipitate it, the router died. Bad cisco. Bad Linksys. I have tons of electronics that just keep working, including computers and modems going back eons. Not this one.

I typically don't review products much. I was so upset about the reliability of this router, I had to post one. I purchased this router to replace an older (and reliable) linksys router. Because it had capability to connect a usb drive made it ideal for sharing media within my network. Transfering or reading files greater than 50Mb via the network storage was imposible. The router would always time out in the middle of transfering a small video file. Very unreliable connections and low retension ... Read More

This thing was good for about a year, and now it disconnects itself every so often. The Cable signal is very strong, so I know it's not the cable company or their signal, nor is it the modem. The Linksys router simply stops emitting wifi signal every 45-60 minutes. You have to crawl under the desk and unplug it, wait, then plug it back (same with the modem) to keep it going again.
This is a very common problem with these shoddy Cisco / Linksys modems. Do a google search for "linksys disconnects" ... Read More
